HISTORY: Minis Minis Minis

Here’s a few historical tidbits from our days doing minicomics. The first is the very first publication of Candle Light Press: Michael Ayers’ “Snapshots”. The back cover is a high contrast photograph taken by Rachael Ayers–it’s me pointin my .357 at Mike’s head (Mike’s idea, I swear). The next is one I did with Carter Allen. A good friend of ours, Brian McNeil, in his pre- Shoe Money days. We did a short love comic to help promote Brian’s great tune “I Need”. This isn’t actually presented correctly, as it was a flip book, but most monitors still don’t flip over. “Glory Guard” was written by me and darwn by Michael Ayers and Carter Allen. “Major Danjer” (yes, a “j”) was written by me and drawn by Carter Allen, with a great CG cover by Tim Mullen–the story is a tribute to the Blackhawk story “The War Wheel”. We used an impractical shape for ours. This one’s all Carter. “The Adventures of Nikki Harris, Cybermation Witch” was an outgrowth of Carter’s 252-Z series and followed a futuristic version of one of the 252-Z characters on all sorts of wild adventures. Here’s the collected “Snapshots” stories collected in 38 pages and called the “38 Special”. Cover photo by Rachael Ayers.More soon. Digging these up slows me down a bit.
